Chronicles of a Mall Santa

December 15, 2008

Today as the Mall Santa I encounter a very touching story. A nurse who had been in town for short while came up and inquired upon taking a picture where in the area she could have the picture altered. I overheard when elf worker asked her why, she replied, “ I am a nurse and my best friend and I always get the same Christmas picture with our local Mall Santa. However two days ago she passed on from Lupus. She had everything going for her she had just been appointed to administration. When out on nowhere she lost her live.”

I comforted her as well as I could and as we sat down to take the picture we both understood how important the Mall Santa picture was going to be and we both began to cry. We finally got through it.

The lesson here is in this most important time of celebration cherish your loved one’s like at no other time during the year. Our time here is way to short.
